Creators were able to generate revenue by inserting random ads into videos and selling collaborations or products directly to buyers on platforms such as Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok. And while Instagram and YouTube make billions of dollars by optimizing advertising revenue through targeted content placement, content creators get little.
